An emergency of the enormity of the COVID-19 pandemic causes people to think about their lives and habits with keen attention and heightened awareness. Many bodywork practitioners are concerned that their knowledge of diseases, sanitation, and hygienic practices are not as comprehensive as they should be to protect themselves and their clients from the spread of infectious diseases. And they’re right! The massage profession needs a serious sanitation upgrade if we are going to welcome clients back to massage when stay-at-home orders lift. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have partnered with Massage Mastery Online.

They have just released a digital textbook, Preventing Disease Transmission in a Massage Practice, which offers in-depth, comprehensive information and step-by-step guidance on best practices for ensuring the health of both clients and therapists. A special section on Human Coronaviruses provides researched, thoughtful recommendations for welcoming clients back to massage in a responsible manner when stay-at-home orders lift.

The eight digital chapters that comprise this guide boast over 185 images, 18 activities, and 8 quizzes (10 questions each) on an interactive learning platform that ensures content is engaging, organized, and fun. The program tracks and records learner participation and achievement with a strong instructional design focus that boosts participant comprehension and reinforces important material.  Downloads provide checklists and client education materials. This guide is accessible on any device: desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile.

MassageMastery.Online is not a continuing education provider. So to help therapists get CE credit for their study of this material, I arranged to partner with them to offer 8 CE credits and allow therapists to download a certificate of completion that acknowledges their expertise in this area.
